Gaia's
Edinburgh Office is situated in a former Monastery, which until 30
years ago was home to Huguenot refugee monks, who operated a dairy
that sold produce from its Forth Street frontage. It was then converted
into a recording studio for the Corries, and is reputed to be the
birthplace of the song "Flower of Scotland". The basement remains
a recording studio and the upper floors were converted for Gaia's
offices in 1998.
The
conversion facilitated environmental upgrades such as the installation
of gas instead of electrical heating, natural paint finishes throughout,
the addition of loft insulation, draught proofing, the installation
of energy-saving light fittings and water saving measures. |
