General
Gaia have become increasingly involved in designing industrial
and commercial buildings.
From early, high-tech, small scale projects such as the Simple
Minds studios (1987) - through offices, industrial, agricultural
and educational buildings, to strategic planning of major industrial
developments, such as the Newburn Development in Newcastle (1999),
the practice has always been eager to engage in dialogue with
clients who are usually seen as hard edged and conventional
in their brief setting.
Over the past five years we have found clients to be increasingly
eager to embrace sustainable development, albeit they are often
unaware of what it entails. The challenge is to provide it at
little or no extra cost.
