Gaia Architects were appointed to design and deliver a state of the art sustainable development for a near town centre development in Alloa. The concept involved a combination of new build and existing historic building set together in a bold juxtaposition on a complex and compact site.
The building was modeled as a combination of passive standard with natural ventilation and careful materials selection and a focus on natural daylighting.
The project was to be an exemplar of the type of project being promoted by Clackmannanshire Council for whom the policy had been developed by Gaia Research. A combination of an over-complicated Planning response and market forces (downturn) put the project on ice.
