This £750 thousand project was the first major example of community involvement in the design, business planning, and management aspects of the procurement of a project for this remote rural community

The Business Plan for the project was put together in large community meetings in a way which would work at an appropriate level for the community. A battle was fought for a 25 metre rather than a 20 metre pool - the last such example to be supported by SportScotland in rural Scotland, and something which would now be considered for reduction in scale in the interests of reducing energy costs, - which has indeed turned out to be an issue for the community.
In terms of the usage of the pool the procurement process of full involvement of the community has meant that it has genuinely felt ownership.
