Duireaskin
Steading
Aberfeldy
This
is a steading & bothy conversion completed in 1997,
in an elevated position overlooking Strathtay.
The basic shell was sound having been repointed & reslated
by a previous owner. The conversion involved utilising the
available space to make interesting living rooms with fine
views to the north & west.
A solar greenhouse was constructed to utilise passive solar
gain and buffer the climate in an exposed hillside location.
The original floor level sloped up with the natural slope.
At the top end facing the adjacent farmhouse there was insufficient
height for a first floor and a south facing double height study
was created. Underfloor heating was installed in the new concrete
floor slab and finished with tiles and Junkers Beech flooring
creating a comfortable living environment.
